When a message, request, or unexpected problem arrives, the body may react before the mind has caught up. A simple practice is to take three slow breaths before you respond. Inhale gently through the nose, let the belly expand, and exhale a little longer than you inhale. You do not need to force a special rhythm or empty the mind completely. The goal is to create a small gap between stimulus and reaction. In that gap, you can choose words more carefully, notice tension in the shoulders, and avoid saying something you may regret. Try this before replying to a difficult email, entering a meeting, or starting a conversation that feels charged. Three breaths are brief enough for real life, yet long enough to remind you that calm is available even in the middle of a demanding day.
